A decade has elapsed since the beginnings, Ryoji Ikeda and Carsten Nicolai relaunching their collaborative project Cyclo . A project that focuses on the visualization of sound and seeks to create a new hybrid between visual art and music. The second installment of this ambitious concept will be called " Id " and released on the prominent label Raster Noton Carsten Nicolai aka Alva Noto.
The artists have developed a database compound sound data to produce visual responses when they are analyzed in real time with the help of monitoring equipment stereo image. The phases and amplitudes of the stereo signals can be illustrated graphically: the audio elements are built through timed publishing frequency and selected by the artists for their visual characteristics in the analysis. By building this archive, Ikeda and Nicolai transcend the usual dynamic image that simply acts as a functional accompaniment of sound. Instead, the audio element in this process is subject to the will and appetite of the image.
Released March 14 (Raster Noton / Module)
Note that the residence of the label Raster Noton at the Rex Club continues. And indeed the next evening Quad is earlier, with Byetone, SND and Jean-Yves Leloup .
